Hiking Timp

So, as a final hurrah for the summer and since my parents were out here in Utah, we decided to take on the high point of the Wasatch front. We faced extreme difficulty, with only 3 of the 7 who took on the challenge being able to finish, but the mountain was full of life, flowers and a couple of mountain goats that ran away from me.

But the views from the top were amazing and it was a beautiful day, though the views on Lavell Edwards stadium weren't the best, so I think I will pass on watching football games from there. It was a good time and I recommend it for all who want to prove themselves.

naked runs

Tonight I had a nice run. I ran from my house to The New Danville Bowl. It was dark, so I went shirtless so that my naked whiteness could reflect off the headlights of the oncoming traffic. My plan worked great and I didn't die. When I got to The New Danville Bowl I walked in with my shirtlessness and everyone stared at me. They all looked like thugs, so I just kept walking. I found my family there and my mom gave me a shirt because moms are the best at clothing their children. I watched the fam bowl a couple frames while listening to the gangsters swear at each other about being thugs. It was cool. Then we went to Yogurt Shack and I got some kona coffee mint butterfinger reeces cookiedough snickers ice cream - exactly what you need after a nice run. While we were there I saw the Stordahl's and a teenage girl fall out of her chair into the store window. It almost broke, but didn't. It was a nice night.

Josh and Maf... what you never knew

A few months ago, several of us boys took a personality test to determine what type of people we are. Josh and I were both ranked as idealist counselors. I have included a little description of what it is to be one of us.

"Counselors
have an exceptionally strong desire to contribute to the welfare of others, and find great personal fulfillment interacting with people, nurturing their personal development, guiding them to realize their human potential."

"Counselors are scarce, little more than one percent of the population, and can be hard to get to know, since they tend not to share their innermost thoughts or their powerful emotional reactions except with their loved ones. They are highly private people, with an unusually rich, complicated inner life."

"Counselors are highly intuitive and can recognize another's emotions or intentions - good or evil - even before that person is aware of them. Counselors themselves can seldom tell how they came to read others' feelings so keenly. This extreme sensitivity to others could very well be the basis of the Counselor's remarkable ability to experience a whole array of psychic phenomena."

Does any of this sound familiar to any of you?

Resurrect a Classic

How long does it take to resurrect a C.D. that you played to death?

For me it takes about 5 years. Senior year of high school I played Five Iron Frenzy's live album so much that I could not bare to listen to it again. I almost considered throwing it away just to be free of it.

A few weeks ago I was going through my old C.D.s and I found it and thought I would try it out again. It was awesome. A blast from the past with the freshness of a new album. Though I could still sing each song word for word, I was able to fully enjoy them without being sick of them.

I send out a call to all of you boys... Remember the days of Compact Discs, before MP3 players even existed. Search through the netherworlds of your old CD cases and find the forgotten classics. Bring them forth in the morning of their first Resurrection, and enjoy music in one of its purest forms.

Summer Updates

Well guys, I have to say I am a little bit disappointed with the blog.

We have all been pretty terrible at posting and commenting this summer.
So the purpose of this post is to get everyone else to post.
Since we have not had a boys meeting in a while,
I don't know what most of you are doing!

So make a post or even just a comment on this post
and tell us what you have been up to. Where you have been working, what classes you have been taking, any fun adventures you have been on, How your dating life is going, Anything you want to tell us, we want to hear!

So this is a picture of an activity we had the other night at Josh's house. We made spray paint solar systems like those guys in San Francisco make. It was a pretty fun activity and pretty inexpensive.

As for me, my life is going really well.
I feel I have been really blessed this summer by the Lord.

I have had the chance to work three jobs this summer, all of which have been good for me. First I had a research internship at the Fremont Group in San Francisco. That was super fun and I learned a lot. Next I have been working the past month at a place called Cantaloupe Systems, in Berkeley. I have been assisting the accountant there and helping with collecting overdue accounts receivable. It wasn't the funnest job at all, but it was good experience. And finally, I am going to work for pool Chlor again for the last month of summer. This isn't really good experience, or great for my resume, but it's good money, and that's something we need right now.

Other than work life is going great. Nicki is 6 1/2 months pregnant
and for those who haven't heard we are having a baby boy!
We feel so lucky because we have the chance to start our family this year. It is a little bit scary, especially knowing that I have the responsibility to provide for this little family. But again the Lord has been helping us so much, and I know we will be just fine.

Well boys, that's pretty much how my life's going right now.
What is going on with you guys?
Let us know.

I just want everyone to know that my brother's band, Crossing Columbia, is flippin rad. They've played a few shows at the Velour in Provo, and they get better every show. Teressa (sister-in-law) is the lead singer, and you guys should listen to them and then come to their concerts in the fall. You can hear their music on www.myspace.com/crossingcolumbia . After writing this, i realized my life was so boring, i had to blog about somebody else's life. haha I'm living with David Woodland right now. That's my story. Oh and i almost died and had to go to the Emergency Room. The End.

Marathon Madness

Two weeks ago PJ and I ran the Nisene Marks Marathon in Aptos California.
It was a grueling 13 miles up hill, with a gain of over 2,000 feet,
and then we turned around and ran back down.
Neither one of us trained enough, but we were both able to finish it.

It was a local marathon, mostly run by old men. Only about 70 people ran it.

I did surprisingly well for having only ran 12 times in training, (seriously).
I got a slower time than my first marathon, but I never hit the wall, which was awesome!

PJ finished his First Marathon!!

Thanks to everyone who came to support us!

For anyone who thinks they are Man enough, PJ and I will be running the
Top Of Utah Marathon, on Saturday September 20th, in Logan, Utah.
Josh and Spen are already planning on it.

Fish are fun!

So, this summer I, John, become the legal guardian of a fish tank. Or more like a private caretaker. or a volunteer caretaker. Whatever I may be, I feel that I must share with you this one great truth that I have learned: Fish are Friends, not Food. So, in an attempt to convince all of you to go and spend all your life savings on little things of joy, rather than big things like women, or school, etc., I felt it my duty to show you these wonderful pictures. Another reason to have a fish: if you ever feel like you don't have a friend, get a fish. You can sit and watch him or her for hours and not be called a peeping tom. And just imagine what a confidence boost it is, knowing that there is a little thing that derives all of its sustenance from you. It cannot do anything for itself, like a little baby. You are actually supporting life.

Look at the crab and the sad fish.

Look, the shrimp molted!

So whenever life gets dark and boring. Get a fish tank.

That is my message.

End of silence

Boys/ men/ and/ all who are friends family/ wifes or girlfriends
It has been a long leave of absence, almost as long as it has been since the I took freshman band as a senior with Phil. ANyway I would like to update you all about what has been going on. Last week meeeeeeg and barb and I went to the big concrete jungle, the apple, the place where hot dog stands on the street, Molex watches, candied peanuts and AL ROQUER rule the world. New York that is. We had a great time we saw phantom of the opera, lion king, the yankees play in yankee stadium, a hobo dance on the subway, a ride in a yellow cab with Habibe, got lost, and even had our airplane catch on fire and make an emergency landing with a firetruck escort once we landed. Then the next week I couldnt resist the invite to go to lake powell where I met some random people, sassed a park ranger and watched the jazz game in a cheap bar surrounded by navajo's who didnt care about the jazz but about the darts tournament. I got my scalp burned so bad that everytime i bend over it looks like its snowing because how bad my scalp is peeling and falling at will. We need to make a trip down there for a few days, its a trip well worth it and so beautiful. Well sorry for the absence and also sorry to have missed the last boys meeting, lust to you all and remember, we be brothers.

Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth

Hello my fellow sit-a-sins. I have some marvelous news and some not so marvelous news (see picture). Not so marvelous=i broke my front tooth (#9 for you dentist nerds), and had toe get a crown put on. For those of you who are thinking about doing this, DON'T. It hurts like mad. I also cracked my other two teeth next to that one, but they're fine. Oh bad news #2... Sharks lost to the Stars. My list of hatred towards Texas continues to grow. GooD nEWs!! I got accepted into the Visual Arts department!! So that's a pretty big deal to me. I'm happy. I'm coming to Danville the end of June. If you would like me to bless you with my presents (which happens to be my presence), I shall do so. Well, that's all from me. Gooodbye. Keep posting. Or Post. Peace out.

PDGA-Public Display of (frisbee) Golf Awesomeness.

That's right boys, We're not in showbiz anymore, so let's get over the whole PDgA thing.. K PDGA is actually the nerdy name for frisbee golf. Spencer Rex Peterson was recently introduced to this new "sport", and it has forever changed his life. After stumbling across the hidden disc golf park, he has been converted. So let's crack open our little shells a little bit, and take a few steps in life and try something new! For those of you that aren't going back to Danville, Stephen (my brother) and I play disc golf a lot. There are quite a few courses in Utah Valley. If anyone would like to learn how to play or just goof around with us, we are more than happy to lend them some discs while they learn. So don't be shy and show off that public display of golf awesomeness.

Key Boating

The History of Key Boating:

One day Dan, PJ, Don, and Josh were at Stoneridge Mall and Dan bowled his keys across the floor while yelling "Key Bowling!" PJ thought that it sounded like Dan was saying "Key Boating!" and the name stuck. On the ride home the boys began to use some free AOL CDs as surf boards for their fingers out the window. The name "Key Boating" suddenly became associated with the new freestyle sport. Key Boating has become widely popular amongst Danville teens and has caused the loss of over 2000 free compact discs. In late 2004, two teens received a ticket for Key Boating of which the fines were later reduced in a court of law. Que Viva Key Boating!!

KEY + BOWLING = KEY BOATING

MATT PETERSON SIGHTING

For those of you who tuned in to General Conference
I hope you kept your eyes open during the Saturday afternoon Session
Because our very own Matt Peterson was sighted
singing in the choir.

I know that millions of viewers world wide were touched by
the sight of his face. And we have just received word,
that church membership has tripled since the sighting.

This was just an early taste of what is to come in the future.
Without doubt Matt Peterson will be sighted many times more
singing with the choir during conference.

Great Job Matt

New Species?

Let's face it guys... deer can get pretty annoying. They eat our gardens, poop on our lawns, and casually stroll across the highway like a herd of cows. But what if Darwin was right? Will the deer just die out because of their minute mental capacity? Or will their gene sequence reconstruct to make a better, more agile species of deer? You tell me...

Tree Houses!!!

I had to post something because no one has done it in over a week and that is driving me crazy!

So recently I have become obsessed with tree houses. I have always wanted one, since I can remember. And over the years I have been making plans in my head for the ultimate tree house. In fact, this picture sums it up pretty well.

so here are a few of the awesome tree houses I have found online.

Cool artwork along the shore of the lake. There were other interesting artifacts, but this was by far the best.

Random artillery units on the ground near a WWII era Soviet sub.

Guess what's going on? No that is not Putin signing a Presidential Order, they are getting MARRIED!! I know, that's not me, but I am taking the photo.

Nick's Mish Pics

My companion in the MTC. He is from Norman, Oklahoma and his front tooth decided that it needed to fall out while we were in the MTC. Crazy if you ask me, so this is the picture we took the next morning after the tooth fairy decided not to show up. (No girls allowed in Elders rooms at the MTC, duh.)

The Gangsters (CHOLOS) knew who was proselyting in their area (me) and they had to announce I was there. "NBR!" word

Some genius decided there should be a crosswalk to the curb on the other side of the street. Hats off to efficiency! And I had to test it out.
